A note about the artist:
Alicia Howell is a Cherokee Indian whose artistic
inspirations derive from her experiences as a member of the Lumbee
Indian Tribe of NC and from Alicia’s relationship with her mother, who is a
full-blooded Cherokee. Always an artist in
some form, Alicia has designed jewelry, performs live music, and is an avid
songwriter, in addition to her current work with mosaic glass tile. However, it is through Alicia’s latest work
that her Native American roots are truly expressed as her one-of-a-kind pieces
combine windows, glass tile, and beadwork to introduce a unique aspect of
authentic Native American culture.
Alicia’s affection for vibrant colors are evident in all of her pieces,
which she believes stems from her interactions with Native American artwork
throughout her life.
